2017 Iron Sharpens Iron Recap

Enjoyed seeing the talent that came through the 1st Annual Iron Sharpens Iron Showcase during the Women’s Final Four in Dallas,TX. We wanted to keep a select group of players limited to 40 in each session so we could focus in and see the talent. Many thanks to all the evaluators/media that came through Girlz Prep Report, ASGR, Peach State, PBR Hoops, She’s Up, and Laquitha Thompson. Of course Full Throttle for bringing this event to life.

Middle School Evals

Dally Coulter ’21 Forward 5’10- Has good size and was physical. Ran the floor well, rebounded, active on both ends of the floor. Your hustle player that did the little things.

Nia Santiago ’23 Guard 5’1- A crafty young player, has some flash to her game, nice handles, makes things happen. Young with a lot of potential, can’t wait to see her play again.

Laila McLeod ’22 Guard 5’9- Has very good size and athleticism. Plays both ends of the floor well, has a nice floater in the lane. Still young but has a lot of potential. If she keeps adding to her game she will be a problem.

Tiana Davis ’23 PG 5’4 (Colorado)- Active player with a good motor, always around the ball, physical and aggressive. Plays both ends equally well, attacks the basket, and assists well. Has a lot of potential.

Ayana Thompson ’22 Forward 5’9- Good size and length, displayed a nice shot on the offensive end, defended well, and played hard. Has a lot of potential.

Deucee Reed ’22 PG 5’1- Has good instincts, quick reaction on defense. She can attack the basket and handle the ball. She has continued to improve and will do so as she gets older. Keep an eye on this one.

Breanna Davis ’22 PG 5’7- Athletic unselfish player that didn’t seem to force a pass. If it wasn’t open she passed it back out. But she can get to the basket and finish. Solid skill set that has game, and can handle the ball and assist. Has a lot of potential, keep an eye out for this one.

Victoria Jordan ’21 Forward 6’0- Good size, rebounds well, and continues to play strong and physical in the paint. She’s starting to step outside to show the mid-range to add versatility. Definitely has potential to be good moving into high school.

Aiken Semones ’21 PG 5’4- Continues to grow and keeps improving at the PG position. She can still shoot it from outside and has a nice assist game. Needs to continue to get stronger moving into high school but has all the right skills.

Kendall McGruder ’21 Guard 5’9- She gets it done on both ends of the floor. Attacks the basket and can shoot it. Physical player that can create her own or assist her teammates, and handles the ball very well.

Kam’Ren Rhodes ’22 Guard 5’4 (Arizona)- Missed her highlights but she can definitely ball. Has solid all around game, good footwork, handles the ball, crafty game, and can shoot it. Good athleticism and solid PG skills. Definitely one to watch for.

Jazzy Owens ’22 Guard 5’6- Fast and athletic, can get to the basket, moves without the ball, hustles, and plays both ends of the floor. Defense is where she gets it done at.

Madison Cockrell ’22 Guard 5’4- Solid shooter, plays both ends of the floor, handles the ball well, gets steals, and makes good passes.

Aniya Anderson ’22 PG 5’2- Did a good job in the skills session, has good hands and defends well, good energy and athleticism, plays hard and hustles.

Masa Al Niubani ’21 PG 5’3- C0ntinues to improve, played well and shot it well. Plays hard on both ends, attacks and able to get to the basket.

Journee Harris ’23 Guard 4’11- A competitor that played fearless. Has athleticism and can handle the ball. Was able to knock down some tough shots. Can’t wait to see more from this one.

Seimone Griffin ’23 Forward 5’8- Did a good job, played hard, and did her best. Didn’t shy away from contact, she battled on both ends, and had great energy.

Myka Perry ’22 PG 5’5- Fundamentally sound player, doesn’t force a play, active on both ends of the floor and played hard. She assisted the open teammate, and was able to knock down some shots. Has a lot of potential.

Josie Watson ’22 Guard 5’5- A young athletic guard that can attack and get to the basket. Can create her own shot, plays both ends of the floor, hustles, and can shoot the mid-range.

Mikaela Curtis ’23 Guard 5’4- Young with potential. Played hard and did well against the older competition. Didn’t shy away from contact and played both ends of the floor well.

Kendall Brown ’21 Forward 5’10- Physical and aggressive player, plays hard, good hands and timing on defense, rebounds well, attacks the basket and finishes. Always handles business on the court.

Abbie Barr ’22 Guard 5’6- Did a good job, played hard, and hustled. Didn’t shy away from contact, had great energy, and played both ends of the floor well.

Tionna Herron ’22 Post 6’3- Has very good size and length. Runs the floor well, with good hands. As she continues to get get older, the strength will come. She is still young with a lot of potential but she will be a force.

Amina Muhammad ’22 Post 6’2- Very good size and length that has improved. She’s more active and around the ball, goes after the rebound, blocks shots, good post moves, and runs the floor well.

Karley Johnson ’22 Guard 5’8 (Oklahoma)- Active on both ends and played hard. Has good qualities and fundamentals. She assists and can score, gets to the basket, and plays fearless. Young with a lot of potential.

Zaria Rufus ’21 Forward 5’10- Very impressive player, she was smooth and in control, has good timing on defense, attacks the basket, finished at the rim. Keep an eye out for this one.

Kayla Glover ’21 PG 5’5- Played very well, despite missing some nice plays that she had on offense. Continues to improve, still plays physical on both ends. She did it all, had some nice passes, grabbed steals, showed off the handles, and shot it well. Very impressed with how she played.

Kymani Sanders ’22 Guard 5’1- Plays hard, defends well with active hands, and can handle the ball. Young with a lot of potential, plays fearless.

Nya Threatt ’22 Guard 5’2- Very crafty PG, smart, flashy, very good skills. Knows what to do with the ball and handles it well. She can assist and score, and was very fun to watch. Definitely one to watch for.

Jordyn DeVaughn ’23 PG 5’0- Young talent in the making that played well. She seen the floor, assisted her teammates, and can handle the ball. As she continues to grow her abilities will continue to improve.

Nykale Cramer ’21 Forward 5’11- Has good size and athleticism, can face up and knock down the mid-range. Can use both hands equally well, with good reaction time on defense. Keep an eye out for this one.

Carrigan Hill ’22 PG 5’6- Athletic PG with good court vision, has flash to her game. Has some nice handles with nice moves, attacks the basket, and has a quick change in direction on the fast break. A player to be on the lookout for.

Aunisty Smith ’22 Forward 5’10- Very good size and not afraid to bang, physical player that will put the ball on the ground and attack the basket. Finishes around the basket, has good hands, and runs the floor well. Has a lot of potential.

Kelbie Washington ’21 PG 5’7 (Oklahoma)- Played well and stood out on defense, had nice moves to the basket, handles the ball well, and see’s the floor, made some nice passes to the open teammate.

Jerrika Mahonn ’22 PG 5’6 (Oklahoma)- She can step out and shoot the ball, has a consistent shot, good fundamental skills and played well. Still young and can’t wait to see more.

Hannah Carr ’24 PG 5’2- Athletic, smart, flashy PG that can cross you up, handles the ball very well. Doesn’t back down from older players, will go at you. Like her confidence, can’t wait to see her again.

Orlanna Gooden ’21 PG 5’2- Solid PG in the making, good PG skill set, good court vision and awareness, gets her teammates the ball, and also has good hands on defense.

 

High School 1 Evals

Alyssa Lafontaine ’20 Forward 5’11- Has good size that can be a mismatch problem. Shy of 6ft but is versatile, she can put the ball on the floor, get to the basket, and shoot from outside. Has improved over the years and is more stronger and physical. She definitely played well and is one to watch for.

Miya Crump ’18 Forward 6’1- Very fun to watch and makes it look easy. Athletic with good size, can pull up for the mid-range, get to the basket, can assist, and handle the ball. Does many things well. She is a problem.

Chelsea Wooten ’20 PG 5’8- Crafty PG, can score, assist, and get to the basket. Handles the ball very well, with a lot of potential. Continues to improve and a player to keep an eye on.

Erin Fry ’20 PG 5’7- Solid PG skills, assisted very well and made some nice passes. Handles the ball, and gets to the basket. Needs to show more of her shooting game but her ability to distribute and get the ball to the open teammate was spot on.

Asha Thompson ’20 Forward 5’11- Has good size and length with athleticism, runs the floor well and hustles, plays both offense and defense equally well. Can shoot the three and mid-range, was fun to watch and has a lot of potential. Keep an eye out for this one.

Abbey Walter ’19 Guard 5’8- Like her passing, has good court awareness. Active on offense and defense. Stays involved, physical, and always around the ball.

Tamia Jones ’20 PG 5’7- Very athletic and fast, will blow by you. Can handle the ball and weave through traffic and finish at the rim. Another tough player that’s fun to watch. Can also shoot from outside and is just as effective on defense. Look out for this one.

Kameron Arrington ’20 Guard 5’8- She was in attack mode. If the lane was open she was getting to the basket. Can shoot it as well mid-range was nice, finished at the basket, good court awareness, made good passes. Definitely one to watch.

Camryn Hill ’20 Forward 5’10- Good size and physical player, has good hands, rebounds, runs the floor well. She’s able to put the ball on the ground and attack the basket. Has a lot of potential. Se can be a problem if she adds the mid-range/outside shot.

Aimee Alverson ’20 PG 5’2- Made good passes to her teammates, has good court awareness, smart player. Has a nice and shot and good handles. Needs to continue to be more aggressive on offense.

Hannah Gusters ’20 Post 6’4- Of course she has good size and length but she continues to improve down in the post area. Nice jump hook, can step out to shoot it. On the boards, runs the floor well, good hands, needs to continue to get stronger. Still young with so much potential, she can be a problem.

Madison Lucas ’19 Guard 5’9- Shoots the ball well, athletic guard, gets to the basket with some nice footwork. Handles the ball well and plays both ends of the floor.

Aimee Campbell ’19 PG 5’7- Shot the ball well and got to the basket. She was active on the offensive end, good court vision, made good passes. Very consistent shot from outside.

Tomia Johnson ’20 Guard 5’5- Has solid PG skills, can handle the ball, and assist her teammates. Unselfish player that gets her team involved. Hustled and played hard.

Nina Milliner ’20 PG 5’5- Physical and strong PG that will muscle the ball away from her defender. Has good court awareness, made some very nice passes, got to the basket and finished at the rim. She took care of business on both ends.

Makenzie Schilmoeller ’20 Guard 5’8- Has a nice assist game, has good court awareness. Active on offense and defense. Stays involved, physical, and handles the ball well under pressure.

Heaven Butler ’20 PG 5’6- Played well, ran the floor, got out on a fast break, attacked the basket, and finished at the rim. Can handle the ball, good athleticism, would like to see more shooting.

Dasha MacMillan ’20 Forward 5’11- Has good size, can be an undersized post, as she played good defense, got some blocked shots. Has good hands, and finished around the basket. Can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Played very well.

Grace Alverson ’20 PG 5’4- Catch and shoot with a consistent shot. Quick release and good form, played well, moves without the ball, gets open. She showed her strengths at the guard position and transitioned if she wasn’t at the PG spot.

Makaila Jenkins ’20 Guard 5’6- Good speed and athleticism. Made good passes to her teammates, has good court awareness. Active on offense and defense. Stays involved, aggressive, and has good handles.

Brittany Schnabel ’19 PG 5’5- Pass 1st PG that got the team involved. She can see the floor and has a nice assist game. Makes good decisions with and can handle the ball. Solid player.

Aaliyah Morgan ’20 Post 6’1- Solid footwork, strong, physical, hustles and plays hard. Fun to watch, has a motor, has good hands on defense, rebounds well. Finishes around the basket. She has many qualities, pay attention to this one.

Jayla Pierson ’20 Guard 5’7- Attacks the basket, nice floater, good speed and athleticism. Handles the ball well when pressured. Played hard and hustled.

Rayna Ross ’20 Guard 5’8- An athletic PG that gets after it on offense and defense. Gets out on the fast break, has good timing and gets steals on defense. Has a quick first step and gets to the basket. Finishes with contact.

Taylor Morgan ’20 Guard 5’7- Has a good motor with active hands on defense. Physical and aggressive, she attacks. She is able to finish at the rim or shoot from outside. Definitely showed a nice assist game and shared the ball.

Jewel Spear ’20 PG 5’8- Has all the right skills, with many qualities. She’s crafty and flashy, has moves to get to the basket, creates for her teammates and herself. Can assist, get to the basket, shoot from outside, etc, etc. Definite player watch that should make noise this summer.

Isabel Montoya ’20 PG 5’6- Nice PG in the making, made some really good plays on the offensive end. See’s the floor, has a nice assist game, has nice handles, unselfish player, and can shoot it. Has a lot of potential, keep an eye out.

Kayla Cobbs ’18 Forward 5’10- Good size, length, and athleticism. Active on offense and defense. Physical and aggressive, and attacks the basket.

Jamie Garcia ’20 Forward 5’6- No push over, she is tough. Has some nice moves and finishes at the rim. Good footwork, good timing and active hands on defense. Will need to continue to watch this one.

Kenzi Carter ’20 Forward 6’0- Good size, showed some versatility, can put the ball on the floor and create her own shot. Has a nice mid-range jumper, hustled and played both ends of the floor.

Nia Dove ’19 PG 5’4- Made good passes to her teammates, has good court vision. Active on both ends of the floor. Stays involved, aggressive, and has good handles.

Jada Russell ’19 Guard 5’5- Played tough. Attacked the basket and finished at the rim. Knew when she was open and made good decisions with the ball. Made nice passes, and shot it well.

Aazayleah Pirtle ’20 Guard 5’6- Made some nice passes, played the PG position well, see’s the floor. Played hard and hustled, played solid defense. Active on both ends.

Tommisha Lampkin ’20 Post 6’2- Good size and length, long and runs the floor, athletic, can put the ball on the floor. Has good hands on defense, gets blocked shots and active on the boards. Has a lot of upside and will be a high commodity.

High School 2 Evals

M’Kayla Malone ’20 Guard 5’7- Held her own, made good decisions with the ball. Attacked the basket and shot it well from outside. Played hard and hustled, can’t wait to see more from her in the future.

Emily Cunningham ’18 Guard 6’1- Good size and length, versatile with good hands finishes with either hand. Runs the floor well. Physical, rebounds well, and goes up strong. Played hard and hustled.

Amber Bacon ’18 PG 5’5- Has many qualities at the PG position. She hustles, has a good motor, locks down on defense, very good court vision, can shoot, and get to the basket, etc. etc. A definite D1 prospect that college coaches need to be on asap.

McKinzie Green ’19 PG 5’7- Very quick and athletic PG that continues to improve on her mid-range and outside game. She can get to the basket when she wants, has a quick first step, finishes at the basket with contact. Handles the ball under pressure. A definite D1 player to look for.

Diamond Willcot ’18 Forward 5’11– Athletic with good size and length. Can play the 3/4 position. Not afraid to bang down low, she attacks the basket. Active on both ends, grabs rebounds, steals, runs the floor. Has many qualities to her game, she can score. She is a definite D1 and coaches should be on this player.

Kayla White ’18 Guard 5’8- A definite problem, can shoot with a nice mid-range game, athletic, can get to the basket and score. Handles the ball in traffic and was effective on the defensive end as well. Wathc this one.

Bria Patterson ’19 Forward 6’0- Your versatile 6footer that can handle the ball and get to the basket. Athletic with good size, runs the floor, has good hands and finishes in around the basket.

Lauryn Thompson ’18 Post 6’0- Handles her business around the post player, has good size, active hands, stays on the boards, runs the floor. Can step out to shoot the jumper or bang it down low. Also has good court vision and makes good passes.

Tatyana Hill ’18 Post 6’2- Continues to improve, has good size, length, and physical down low. Runs the floor well, good hands, can even shoot from the perimeter. Stays on the boards, one to look for this summer.

Makayla Humphrey ’18 Guard 5’7- Handles the ball well under pressure, nice assist game, good curt awareness. Ran the floor well, made good decisions with the ball. Attacks and gets to the basket. Stays involved and played both ends of the floor.

Kiara Collins ’18 Forward 5’9- Was active and everywhere. She ran the floor, knocked down the mid-range jumper, grabbed rebounds, steals. See’s the floor with nice court vision. Keep an eye out , she came to play.

Kennedy Brown ’19 Post 6’5- Very good hands, likes to step out and shoot from three and will knock it down. Has versatility to her game. She gets down there and rebounds and finishes around the basket. A definite D1 player coaches should be after.

Jena’ Williams ’19 PG 5’7- Very good passer, nice assist game, patient and makes good decisions with the ball. Handles the ball under pressure, can get to the basket and finish at the rim. Shoots it well from mid-range. Craft that continues to improve.

Sydney Hardeman ’18 Guard 5’11- Still on the right track. Her shooting game is still there and knocks it down from outside. Can get to the basket and finish at the rim, continues to improve. She should do very well at LA Tech.

Payton Hicks ’19 PG 5’4- Good motor, in your face defense, active on both ends of the floor. Can get steals, assist teammates, shoot from outside and attack the basket. Hustle player that does whatever is necessary and plays hard.

Zoe Young ’19 Guard 5’10- Very smooth with leadership qualities. She has that “IT” factor. Her court awareness and assist game is fun to watch, can shoot from outside or pull up for the jumper. Handles the ball very well and finishes at the rim. A serious next level prospect.

McKinnley Douglas ’18- Good size, finishes around the paint, good hands finishes with either hand. Runs the floor well. Physical, rebounds well, and goes up strong.

Kinley Brown ’19 Guard 5’9- Attacked the basket and finished at the rim. Good athleticism, stays active with good hands, physcial, and has good handles.

Kaila Cooks ’18 Guard 5’5- Stays involved, aggressive, and handles the ball under pressure. Made good passes to her teammates, solid good court vision. Active on both ends of the floor.

Jordyn Oliver ’19 Guard 5’11- Continues to improve on her shot, she can get to the basket when she wants but her mid-range game is nice. Has good handles, see’s the floor, good court vision, and has a solid all around game with many qualities.

Lolo Davenport ’18 Forward 6’1- Played both ends effectively well, can block shots, see the floor, made some nice passes on the fast break, can shoot the mid-range and outside shot. Solid all around game with versatility.

London Scott ’19 Post 6’0- She is a banger in the post, active with good hands, physical and aggressive. Runs the floor well, finishes around the basket. She has improved on her game. Can’t wait to see more footwork from her in the future.

Diamond Atchison ’18 PG 5’5- Active PG that stepped up down the stretch, can knock it down from outside, handles the ball under pressure, has good court vision and made some very nice passes. Plays both ends of the floor equally well. Look out for this one.

Cailain Williams ’18 Forward 6’2- Has good size and length, active on the boards, ran the floor well. Has good hands and timing on defense to get block shots and rebounds. Played well and hustled.

Kymora Westerfield ’18 PG 5’4- Made good passes to her teammates, has good court vision. Active on both ends of the floor. Stays involved, aggressive, and has good handles.

Uchenna Nwoke ’18 Post 6’6- Rebounds well, has good hands, needs to continue to work on owning the paint by being more physical and stern. Has the potential to be dominate. She definitely defends the basket and causes players to change their shot.

Taylor Hutchins ’19 Forward 5’9- A mismatch problem for smaller guards, strong and physical player that is active on both ends of the floor. She can get to the basket and finish with contact, very good court awareness and makes nice passes. She is a fun to watch and gets the job done.

Taylor Jones ’19 Post 6’3- Active in the post, all over the boards, gets put backs, block shots. Has good timing on defense, runs the floor well with good hands. A definite D1 that should have many offers going into summer.

Myra Gordon ’20 Guard 5’11- Continues to improve at the guard position. Her shooting is what stands out, from mid-range to outside she can come off the screen and knock it down. Attacks the basket and finishes at the rim with contact. Still makes difficult shots around the basket. Nice assist game with good court vision.

Breasiajah Mathews ’18 Forward 6’0- Long and athletic, versatile 6footer that can handle the ball, get to the basket and finish. Also has a nice assist game and see’s the floor and lock it down on defense. A definite D1 prospect that coaches should be on asap.

Tavy Diggs ’19 Forward 5’11- Good size and length with versatility at her position. Can handle the ball and attack the basket. Has a nice mid-range shot and floater game. Good timing and able to block shots on defense. She continues to improve and add to her game.

Mikayla Hutchinson ’19 Guard 5’9- Good size and athleticism, that can shoot from outside. Runs the floor well, handles the ball under pressure. Can put it on the floor and get to the basket. Can’t wait to see more from her. Hustled and played well.

Alexia Martin ’18 PG 5’7- She got it done, impressive player that can shoot it. Handles the ball in traffic, assist the open teammate, can create her own shot and knock it down mid-range or outside.
